Man beaten up by locals over affair with a girl in Perinthalmanna

MALAPPURAM: A 22-year-old youth was beaten up by locals over his alleged affair with a girl from the locality at Karinkallathani near Perinthalmanna. The incident happened on February 1 and a FIR was registered on Saturday after police received a complaint from the victim.
Perinthalmanna Police Inspector TS Binu said the victim was beaten up by local people, alleging that he is having an affair with a girl.The youngster was beaten up by a mob including locals and relatives of the girl alleging that he was harassing her.
The victim was hospitalised with severe injuries and later discharged. “He was brutally beaten up and the mob had left him severely injured,” the police officer said. Perinthalmanna police have already started a probe but no arrests have been made so far into the case.
In a similar incident, a 42-year-old man was beaten to death by a mob at Mankada in the district in June 2016. Nasir Hussain was beaten up and questioned by local residents after he was spotted near the house of woman, who was staying alone. Eight persons were arrested by Perinthalamanna police in connection with the incident.
